Progressive SucksI got married last month and called my auto insurance, Progressive, to change the last name on my policy. The rep asked if I would like to add my husband to my policy and informed me that I would be receiving a discount of $100 a year. Needless to say, I added him to my policy. There was one little problem though, I had forgotten about a little accident he was in about six months back. This little accident caused my policy to actually go up about $400 a year!

When I called to have him removed I was given the run around. First I was told I couldn’t remove him without excluding him per state policy, and then I was told (by a different rep) that it was company policy. When I asked for that “policy” in writing the rep (who was a supervisor) didn’t seem very willing to co-operate. She said I had just received a copy of my policy. I asked again to have that SPECIFIC part in writing, she finally agreed. Yesterday I received a copy of my policy in the mail. Hmmm… it doesn’t seem that there is any specific part that states he can’t be removed without excluding him from the policy. Why would I exclude my husband from my policy? Then who’s going to drive my car home when I get wasted at the bar?!

In the midst of all of this I was thinking, and I realized that I wanted to tell these people to f’ off. So, I sent their CEO The Last Word, with a nice letter attached explaining my situation. Well, I haven’t heard anything from anyone at their company and it’s been a week, who’s got the last word now? Guess I’ll be shopping around for new insurance with a company that doesn’t feel it’s necessary to extort its customers!
